Radu Suciu is a research associate in the University of Geneva’s Faculty of Humanities and at the Interfaculty Centre of Bioethics and Medical Humanities .He is currently exploring the links between the Digital humanities and the Medical humanities.

Radu holds a degree in humanities and sociology from Babeş-Bolyai University in Cluj, Romania. In 2009, he received a PhD from the University of Geneva and the University of Paris-Sorbonne (jointly supervised) with a thesis on the history of medicine and French literature (16th and 17th century). From 2004 to 2007, he worked as a postdoctoral research fellow at the Institut de Recherche et d’Histoire des Textes (Institute for research and the history of texts) of the Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique (National Center for Scientific Research). There, he helped create the BUDE database, a digital research tool for the Europa Humanistica project.

From 2010-2011, he was funded by the Paris Town Hall under the Research in Paris programme to carry out a post-doctoral research project on the Digital humanities. That project included creating the online publication Melancholystories.com, a collection of medical-moral texts written at the end of the Renaissance. In 2012, Radu edited the first French treatise on melancholy, Discours des maladies mélancoliques (Editions Klincksieck), which was published in 1594 by André Du Laurens, the doctor of Henry IV.

In 2013, Radu worked with Professors Michel Jeanneret and Frédéric Kaplan as the curators of Le Lecteur à l'œuvre, an exhibition at the Fondation Martin Bodmer in Cologny, Geneva.

He prepared in 2016 the virtual exhibition Médecine et alimentation (manger.unifr.ch) in Fribourg and coordinated the creation of WUD a prototype for curating online content related to the Medical Humanities.

Since 2014, he has been co-leading the Bodmer Lab.
