Michal Starke completed his PhD in linguistics in 2001 at the University of Geneva, under the supervision of Professor Luigi Rizzi. Following the completion of his doctoral studies, he began his academic career as an assistant professor at New York University. In 2004, he was appointed full professor at the University of Tromsø, where his research continued to flourish. He is currently a professor at Masaryk University in Brno, where he has made significant contributions to the development of nanosyntax, a theory that has reshaped our understanding of syntactic structure.
