Certificate of specialisation in linguistics - postgraduate program
Since 2007, the Department of Linguistics in Geneva offers a 1-year (30 ECTS credits) graduate program in Linguistics to students who hold an MA degree in Linguistics or an equivalent diploma. Courses are given in English and French.
The program has three main components:
- Methods of analysis (6 credits)
We offer three accelerated introductory or "update” courses in the areas of specialization in the department, namely Syntax, Pragmatics and Computational Linguistics. Students are required to take two out of three courses. These courses will be subject to an internal evaluation (for example in the form of an oral presentation or exercises to be submitted). - Specialization (12 credits)
2 seminars in one of the three fields (syntax, semantics/pragmatics, computer linguistics). The seminars attended will each give rise to an evaluation (written work). - Research (12 credits)
Attendance and active participation in the departmental research seminars and the submission of a 25-page research paper.
