Nicole Schmidt holds a medical and doctoral degree from the Friedrich-Alexander University (Germany) and a MPH from the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health (US). She started a specialisation in gynaecology and obstetrics in Germany and obtained her FMH in 2014 at the University Hospitals of Geneva. Her main research interests are in the field of improving the reproductive health of women and girls nationally and internationally. In 2019, the Catholic University of Applied Science Munich (KSH) appointed her as a Professor of Health Science. She continues to collaborate with Prof. Petignat's research group to prevent cervical cancer in Cameroon. She is involved in supervising Master students at the UNIGE and contributes to the APP at the medical faculty of Geneva.
