A successful Diabetes Day
On Tuesday 7 November 2023, the Faculty Diabetes Centre and the PHYM department welcomed all those curious to learn more about diabetes.
From 9.30am to 6pm, around 200 people from a wide range of backgrounds took part in this special day. They were able to meet many researchers and clinicians, and find out about advances in diabetes research.
The open day gave the public an insight into how the disease works through a range of lectures and laboratory visits. Discovering the role played by the microbiota, observing the cells that secrete insulin and learning about the importance of the liver were just some of the topics presented.
A sincere thank you to all the visitors for their interest and enthusiasm, which helped to make the day an enriching and memorable experience!
