SPEAKERS:

DAPHNE YONG-D'HERVÉ

Daphne Yong-d'Hervé is head of intellectual property at ICC (International Chamber of Commerce). As Chief Intellectual Property Officer, she manages both the policy and operational aspects of ICC’s intellectual property work. Her responsibilities include implementing and coordinating ICC’s intellectual property policy programme, as well as developing and implementing ICC’s internal intellectual property strategy.

Daphne is also a member of the management steering committee of ICC’s Department of Policy and Business Practices.

Before joining ICC, Daphne worked in law firms and in industry in Malaysia, London and Paris. She holds a law degree from St Catherine's College, Cambridge University, UK, and is qualified as a barrister at the Bar of England and Wales and as an advocate and solicitor at the Malaysian Bar.


INGRID BAELE

Vice President, Philips Intellectual Property and Standards

ingrid-baele.jpgIngrid Baele, a Belgian national, joined Philips Research Laboratories in Eindhoven, The Netherlands in 1987. She has a background in physics from the University of Antwerp, Belgium.

In 1990 she joined Philips Intellectual Property & Standards (IP&S) that handles all IP matters for Royal Philips. She started as IP Counsel and became member of the IP&S Management Team in 1999. In her current position Ingrid is responsible for the IP&S offices worldwide and the IP&S operations.

She is vice-chair of the ICC IP Commission and chair of the ICC IP Roadmap task force. She is board member of two institutes for IP education.


AXEL BRAUN

Dr. Axel Braun is a Vice-Director and Head International Developments in Group Patents Global of F. Hoffmann-La Roche Ltd. (Roche) in Basle and in this function responsible for IP policy.

He also represents Roche in the IP working groups of various industry associations, like the International Federation of Pharmaceutical Manufacturers & Associations (IFPMA), the European Federation of Pharmaceutical Industries & Associations (EFPIA), where he also chairs the respective CBD Working Groups, Interpharma, the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC), the Biotechnology Industry Organization (BIO) and BUSINESSEUROPE (BE).

He is also a representative for BE in the Standing Advisory Committee of the European Patent Office (SACEPO).

Before he had been Section Head with responsibility for all IP activities in relation to a specific therapeutic area and in various other functions within the patent department of Roche. Admitted as a European Patent Attorney to practice before the European Patent Office since 1994, Mr. Braun holds a Ph.D. degree in Biochemistry from the University of Munich / Max-Planck Institute of Psychiatry (Germany), a diploma degree of chemistry also from the University of Munich / Max-Planck Institute of Biochemistry (Germany) and a bachelor degree of philosophy from the University of Heidelberg (Germany).


 HAO MA

Mr. Hao MA is the President of CCPIT Patent and Trademark Law Office. He joined CCPIT Patent and Trademark Law Office in 1992 after working in Beijing Research Institute of Automation for Machinery Industry from 1982 to 1992 as an electronics engineer.

Mr. Hao MA's practice focuses on patent prosecution, reexamination, invalidation and appeal, litigation and licensing. He has extensively counseled domestic and international clients on other IP issues such as copyright, technology import and export, and border enforcement.

Mr. Hao MA is also the Member of Advisory Committee of Experts on State IPR, Member of Expert Committee of Market Regulation of SAIC, Vice President of All-China Patent Attorneys Association, President of CTA Trademark Agent Branch Association, President of AIPPI, Vice President of LES China, Regional Ambassador for China of ICC Intellectual Property Commission and Arbitrator for China International Economic and Trade Arbitration Commission.
