Trade and Environment Week WTO: Re-Thinking the Relationship between International Trade and Environmental Law
As part of the World Trade Organization (WTO) Trade and Environment Week, our colleague Elena Cima will be discussing her recent book “From Exception to Promotion” and ways to push the sustainable agenda forward in the trading system with other experts in the field. The WTO Trade and Environment Week serves as a forum to discuss ways to make global trade more sustainable. It is a public event and participation is possible both in person and online.
In this book, the author tells a "new story" of the nexus between international trade and environmental law — a story in which according to the author, the keyword is "synergy rather than conflict, and where the trade regime was always meant for something greater than simply trade liberalization." This includes according to the author, sustainable development, environmental protection, and social inclusion
