Eugen Bronasco reçoit le prix Henri Fehr 2025

Eugen defended his thesis "Algebraic structures and numerical methods for invariant measure sampling of Langevin dynamics" under the supervision of Gilles Vilmart (Université de Genève), Dominique Manchon (Laboratoire de Mathématiques Blaise Pascal, CNRS et Université Clermont-Auvergne) in March 2025. Eugen began a postdoctoral position on June 2025 at Chalmers University of Technology and the University of Gothenburg, in the group of Klas Modin.

Eugen's Research:

He is interested in numerical integrators of ordinary differential equations (ODEs) and stochastic differential equations (SDEs), as well as in sampling the invariant measure of Langevin dynamics. His focus is on the combinatorial and algebraic structures associated with these methods.

Specifically, he studies the algebraic structures of Butcher series, including the related Hopf and pre-Lie algebras on trees. Additionally, he explores the extensions known as aromatic and exotic aromatic Butcher series, along with the corresponding algebraic structures on aromatic and exotic aromatic trees.

For his postdoctoral research he now focuses on geometric hydrodynamics, in particular on the geometric properties of time discretizations of the Euler–Zeitlin equation, which arises as a spatial discretization of the vorticity formulation of the incompressible Euler equation on the two-dimensional sphere.
