PhD defence of Mrs Karolina Luczkowska
This September 3 at 2pm, Mrs Karolina Luczkowska defended brilliantly via Zoom her PhD thesis on Glutamate dehydrogenase, hyperammonemia, and HI/HA syndrome: Study on the contribution by the liver. Her thesis was conducted under the direction of Prof. Pierre Maechler from the Department of cell physiology and metabolism.
HIHA is a serious genetic disease caused by mutations in the gene encoding for the glutamate dehydrogenase, GDH. During her PhD thesis, Karolina Luczkowska investigated how GDH impacts ureagenesis and gluconeogenesis in vivo. Part of her results can already be discovered in her recent paper in Human Genomics.
