Sophie Betka first obtained a bachelor’s degree in psychology from the Catholic University of Lille, then, pursued her training with a research master's degree in Neuropsychology and Clinical Neurosciences from the Pierre-Mendès-France University (Grenoble-II). In 2018, Sophie obtained a PhD in Neuroscience from the Brighton and Sussex Medical School, based in Brighton, UK, and joined the Ecole Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne as a post-doctoral fellow (Campus Biotech, Geneva). Finally, in the summer of 2023, she joins the research support team at the University of Geneva as a scientific assistant. During her years as a PhD student and researcher, Sophie has submitted and benefited from numerous national and European grants (e.g., Society for the study of addiction PhD studentship, Rotary Global Grant, Marie Sklodowska-Curie individual fellowship, Ambizione SNF, ATIP-AVENIR INSERM/CNRS). In addition, Sophie also took part in Innosuisse's Business Concept training program and was instrumental in the creation of a biotech start-up.
Sophie is currently in charge of innovation-related projects and oversees several European research programs, particularly in relation to industry and SMEs in Horizon 2020 and Horizon Europe: European Innovation Council (EIC), Innovative Health Initiative (IHI), Partnerships (ERA-Nets, AAL, FET Flagships, etc.), Eurostars, European and Developing Countries Clinical Trials Partnership (EDCTP), etc.
