Supporting environmental defenders: How can we mobilize the international community?

Our colleague, Peter Larsen, is taking part in the organization of a public round table on "Support to environmental defenders" which will take place on the 26th of February (17:30-19:00) at Palais Eynard, Geneva. This public event combines testimonies from environmental defenders with recent academic analysis and responses from high-level representatives from International Geneva and the Mayor of Geneva. 

Organized in the context of the international conference “Towards a Geneva Road Map: Responding to the Needs of the Environmental Civil Society and Defenders”, this round table addresses the core question of: how can the international community in Geneva be mobilized to help protect environmental defenders and civic spaces? 

The organizers are the University of Geneva, City of Geneva, Earthjustice, Geneva Environment Network, Gouvernance de l'environnement et du développement territorial - GEDT, UN Environment Programme, UN Human Rights Special Procedures, Geneva Academy, International Union for the Conservation of Nature, University of Sussex, Geneva Science-Policy Interface, The Geneva Human Rights Platform, Fondation Ernest Boninchi, and University of British Columbia.
