[783] Éthique biomédicale

  •  How to adapt protection strategies to various forms of vulnerability? When facing more than one vulnerability, what does it change?
  •  What health policies are most justified and why? When illness is the result of patients' behaviours, for example, can patients be held accountable for their illness and what would be the implications ?
  •  What should the limits of medically assisted reproduction be and how to justify them?
  •  How are end-of-life decisions made in Switzerland and how should they be made?
  •  What are the ethical issues associated with the use of Big Data in the medical field? For example, what form of consent is most compatible with patients' rights for the use of their medical data?

Medicine confronts health professionals, patients, their families, and citizens with situations in which important values conflict with each other. Research in biomedical ethics studies these tensions in order to clarify them and propose solutions applicable to these situations. To do so, we use an interdisciplinary approach that combines the analytical tools of philosophy with quantitative and qualitative empirical research. Our group is therefore interdisciplinary, bringing together medicine, philosophy, law, political science and biology. The objectives are to propose thoughtful and argued solutions to concrete problems. To do so, we sometimes need to collect data relevant to these reflections that are not explored by other fields of knowledge.
