Dr. Andreas Ullrich MD, MPH

Part time Lecturer


Dr Andreas Ullrich MD, MPH, Visting Scientist Depart of Gynaecology Charité University Hospital Berlin,  former Adviser to the Assistant Director General Noncommunicable Diseases and Mental Health (NMH cluster) with the World Health Organization (WHO) at WHO Headquarters Geneva. 

Dr Ullrich MD specialised in internal medicine graduated in Public Health at the Bielefeld School of Public Health, Germany (1999) where he worked as assistant professor in cancer epidemiology (2000/2001). He joined WHO at Headquarters Geneva in 2001, with its cancer control program.  During his career at WHO he has shaped the WHO global cancer control strategy with the development of an organization-wide cancer prevention and control technical network which is engaging all relevant WHO programs at Headquarters and Regional Offices and the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) in responding to the needs of cancer control in low-and middle-income countries.

One major focus of this WHO cancer strategy was to provide guidance for national cervical and breast cancer prevention programs. Dr Ullrich coordinated across WHO technical guidance on HPV vaccination, cervical cancer screening and management including palliative care. He created a UN wide partnerships on cervical cancer, the Global Joint Program on cervical cancer (WHO UNFPA UNICEF UNAIDS UN Women) which is providing technical support to countries where the is political will to develop national cervical cancer programs.
