Patentability of Computer-Implemented Inventions

A Computer-implemented invention (CII) is an invention whose implementation involves the use of the computer, computer network or other programmable apparatus, the invention having one or more features which are realised wholly or partly using a computer program.
CIIs apply nowadays to all fields of technology.

This presentation shows how CIIs are examined at the European Patent Office (EPO) concerning the requirements of Article 52 European Patent Convention (EPC).

This webinar will be given by Jose Santacroce. Before joining Bugnion, Jose worked 4 years at Moeller IP as head of the Patent Department and 29 years at the European Patent Office in Munich, 17 years as a patent examiner in the field of Telecommunications (1988-2005) and 12 years as a director in the field of Computers (2006-2017), specialising in Computer-Implemented Inventions (CII), including Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning.
