Aurélie Picton

Aurélie Picton is an associate professor at the Faculty of Translation and Interpreting at the University of Geneva (Department of Translation Technology, referred to by its French acronym TIM) since 2011. She teaches courses in translation technologies, terminology and applied lexicology. Her main research areas focus on the understanding of the use and usefulness of electronic resources (esp. corpora) for specialized translation, and on the analysis of terminological variation in specialized discourses (esp. its tracking in electronic corpora, its characterization and its management for specialized translation). Among her recent publications are a co-edited volume on terminological variation and several papers on the observation of the use of resources while translating, and on the development of a protocol to observe specialized translators “in action”.
