Moeen is a PhD candidate in Interdisciplinary Global Studies and a teaching and research assistant at the Global Studies Institute of the University of Geneva.

He holds a double Master’s degree in International Affairs from the Geneva Graduate Institute (IHEID) and Global Health from the University of Geneva (UNIGE). A medical scientist by training, Moeen has a Bachelor’s degree in Medical Laboratory Sciences from Tehran University of Medical Sciences (TUMS).

Currently, Moeen is part of the Science in Diplomacy Lab (SiDLab) where he works under the supervision of two co-supervisors, Prof. Didier Wernli and Prof. Roland Bouffanais. His research employs a mixed method of systems, network, computer, and complexity science approaches at the intersection of global health and international affairs to better understand and address interdisciplinary global health governance issues, such as global health resilience, infectious diseases governance, and One Health.

Moeen has experience as a junior consultant for the World Health Organization (WHO), supporting the Health Emergency Preparedness and Response Program. He was also a Youth Fellow at the UN Office for Disarmament Affairs (UNODA) for the Biological Weapons Convention (BWC). Before joining the GSI, he worked as a research assistant at the Global Health Centre of the Geneva Graduate Institute, where he conducted research on the global governance of infectious diseases under the supervision of Prof. Suerie Moon. Additionally, he was a research assistant at the Geneva Centre of Humanitarian Studies researching topics such as access to COVID-19 vaccines for refugees and migrants, and the future of Global Health Initiatives, both under the supervision of Prof. Karl Blanchet.
