Julien Deonna est Professeur ordinaire au département de philosophie et Chef de projet au Centre Interfacultaire en Science Affectives.

Après un premier cycle à l’université de Genève et une thèse de doctorat sur l’empathie à l’Université de Bristol (2002), Julien Deonna a occupé des positions postdoctorales aux Universités de Cambridge et UC Berkeley (2002-2004). Il mène aujourd’hui l’essentiel de ses recherches dans le cadre de thumos, le Groupe Genevois de Recherche sur les Emotions, les Valeurs et les Normes, dont il dirige les activités avec Fabrice Teroni. Avec ses collaborateurs – Michele Ombrato (candoc), Constant Bonard (candoc), Magalie Schor (candoc), Roberto Keller (candoc) – il anime plusieurs projets de recherche sur le thème des émotions
