Abele has a bachelor degree from EPFL (Life Sciences & Technologies) and a master degree from the University of Geneva, with a master thesis centered on the use of EEG neurofeedback for treatment of stroke and attention-related disorders. He then obtained a PhD from Radboud University Nijmegen in 2024, where the focus of his doctoral work was on the use of in-action HRV biofeedback, delivered in a VR environment, to help police officers keep in control under threat. He then worked as a Post-Doctoral researcher in the CIBM EEG HUG-UNIGE section, under the supervision of Dr. Tomas Ros and in collaboration with Yingqi Huang. Their project aimed to investigate the use of a new type of neurofeedback therapy (based on micro-states) to treat ADHD in adult patients.

The general focus of his work is on intervention science, through neuro- and bio- feedback. His areas of interest include physiological and EEG signal analysis, dynamical systems, VR design, police training & education.
