Background

I am a biomedical engineer and completed my PhD at Aston University, UK, where I used multimodal EMG/EEG acquisitions to investigate changes in brain-to-muscle connectivity and muscle networks (synergies) following mechanical muscle stimulation. Since I joined the Epilepsy and Network Lab in Geneva, I have used EEG-based brain networks to study vigilance states in patients with epilepsy and in animal models, while also investigating the coupling between structural and functional networks in epilepsy and the relationship between brain networks during sleep and cognitive deficits.

Current project

Since October 2024, the Faculty of Medicine support my research project on sleep-related EEG markers of memory impairments in temporal lobe epilepsy. With this study I want to uncover epilepsy-related impairements in memory-replay during sleep, leveraging on the encoding of lateralized content (verbal vs visual) and on the comparison with healthy subjects.
