Manuela Motta holds a degree in translation and an MA in conference interpreting from the University of Geneva, where she also completed a PhD in conference interpreting focusing on the learning process and on skill acquisition in interpreting and the impact of new technologies thereon. Moreover, she holds a CAS in e-learning project design and a MAS in interpreter training.

Since 2001 she teaches at the Faculty of Translation and Interpreting in the MA in conference interpreting and MAS in interpreter training progammes. For a few years, she acted as Secretary General for the European Masters in Conference Interpreting (EMCI), where she contributed to the drafting of the work programme and of the application for funding, to the preparation and management of the budget, to the organisation of different activities and meetings. She also played an active role in other projects funded by the European Union (e.g. ERITON), while at the same time working as a professional translator and conference interpreter, namely at the Swiss Center of expertise in Prison and Probation (CSCSP).

Manuela Motta joined the Research and Grants Office – Euresearch team in June 2017. She is in charge of the ERC (Starting, Consolidator and Advanced Grants) programmes and is very active in coaching activities to prepare reseachers for Step 2 evaluation interview of competitive career instruments (ERC and SNSF).
