Artists in transit? A trans-situated ethnography of the uses of contemporary visual arts' chronotopes within the Atlantic Space

The analyse of formal and discursive artists’ practices in a postcolonial context allows to describe the different history fabrications that interact within the society in which are made the art works as well as the performativity of these fabrications nowadays.

This PhD Thesis deals with space-times called up and dwelled by some Cuban visual artists, interplaying with the different –local and international- actors gravitating toward their production. The stakes studied here concern mainly the actors’indentification processes always in tension between nationalist and translocal discourses, in a context characterized by slave and colonization history, intense migratory processes, racism, socialist dictatorship and censorship daily experienced.
