The Commission is organised by working groups and corresponding themes: Evolution of the humanitarian system, ethical and legal frameworks, Humanitarian architecture, leadership, governance, coordination, innovative humanitarian financing, research and evidence, priority humanitarian packages, Measuring success, technology and artificial intelligence, climate change, and crosscutting themes (e.g. gender, hard-to-reach populations). We hope to deliver a Commission report by early 2026.
The Commission is chaired by Professor Paul Spiegel, Johns Hopkins Center for Humanitarian Health, Baltimore, USA, Dr Ozge Karadag, Bahcesehir University (BAU), School of Medicine, Istanbul, Türkiye, ChiChi Undie, Baobab Research Programme Consortium, Population Council, Nairobi, Kenya, and our Director Professor Karl Blanchet, Geneva Centre of Humanitarian Studies, Faculty of Medicine, University of Geneva.
