[1068] Translational Research in Neurodegeneration

We are dedicated to advancing dementia research by leveraging our dual expertise in both laboratory science and clinical practice at the Memory Center. This unique positioning allows us to develop truly translational projects that bridge molecular insights with patient care.

Our current research focuses on the following areas:

  • Understanding the mechanisms of tau propagation and aggregation in tauopathies, and to develop sensitive tools for detecting pathogenic tau species in human biofluids.
  • Investigating the physiological role of extracellular tau, and the contribution of astrocytes and ApoE to the progression of neurodegenerative diseases.
  • Developing and validating innovative biomarkers, and improving the clinical management of patients with neurodegenerative diseases, by leveraging the infrastructure and expertise of the Geneva Memory Center.
