A world record as part of the Telethon
A 24-metre Lego mosaic
As part of the Swiss Telethon, the record for the largest Lego mural was broken on 7 December 2025. With a Lego mural made up of 300,000 pieces, which several members of the department helped to create, Yverdon-les-Bains dethroned the city of Brest (France).
The operation raised tens of thousands of Swiss francs for medical research into rare genetic diseases and for social initiatives to support people with rare genetic diseases.
Although it is not certain that this new record will be recognised in the famous Guinness Book, the event, organised jointly by the Association pour le développement du Nord vaudois (ADNV), Brickmasters.ch and Lego, was a huge success.
In action at a hockey match
Scientists from the Department of Cell Physiology and Metabolism also took part in other events as part of this year's Swiss Telethon. Accompanied by volunteers and affected families, they mobilised during a hockey match on 29 November at the Vernets ice rink in Geneva.
