An insightful lecture from Prof. Philippe Pasero

On Wednesday 10th of December 2025, Prof. Philippe PASERO, Institute of Human Genetics, CNRS, Montpellier, France, invited by Prof. Monica GOTTA gave a lecture entitled "DNA damage and inflammation: signaling replication stress beyond cell boundaries".

Replication stress is the driving force of tumor development. However, it represents also the Achilles’ heel of cancer cells as it interferes with cell proliferation and sensitizes them to chemotherapeutic agents. With his group, Prof. Philippe PASERO investigates the cellular responses to replication stress in budding yeast and in human cell lines.

His lecture specifically emphasized the contribution of chromosome condensation to the recovery after replication stress and examined how this stress influences the immune system’s anti-tumor response.
