A captivating lecture from Dr Ana Teresa Lopez Jimenez
On Tuesday 29th of July, Dr. Ana Teresa LOPEZ JIMENEZ, Laboratory of Prof. Serge MOSTOWY, London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine, gave a captivating lecture entitled "Proximity biotinylation at the host-Shigella interface reveals UFMylation as an antibacterial pathway".
She presented two of her recent projects on the host interactions with Shigella, an important human pathogen: (i) the investigatation of Shigella infection through high-content and deep-learning microscopy, (ii) the identification of a new antibacterial pathway, UFMylation.
She is hosted in the laboratory of Prof. Serge MOSTOWY which works on septins, a poorly understood component of the cytoskeleton, with the final aim to better understand some of the mechanisms of innate immune defence.
