June 17: PhD defence of Mr Kevin Assoumou
On the 17th of June 2025, Mr Kevin Assoumou successfully defended his PhD thesis entitled "Regulation of GPCR anterograde trafficking". His thesis was conducted under the direction of Pre Miriam Stoeber from the Department of Cell Physiology and Metabolism.
G protein-coupled receptors (GPCRs) constitute a large family of receptors that play important roles in physiology and mediate the effects of many therapeutic drugs. His thesis provides a comprehensive analysis of GCPR transport from organelles to cell membrane and identify novel factors that control GPCR transport. These results have the potential to improve drug responses including of opioid receptors, key therapeutic targets for pain relief.
