Lucie Mercier

Lucie Mercier is Postdoctoral Researcher in Philosophy. Prior to joining the University of Geneva she was a Junior Research Fellow at the Centre for Research in Modern European Philosophy (CRMEP, Kingston University, London) Senior Researcher at the Philosophy Department of the University of Fribourg, as well as Visiting Researcher in Philosophy at the University of Paris 8 and at UC Berkeley.

Mercier’s research focuses on the critical history and historiography of philosophy, and specifically on the effects of questions of race and (post-)colonialism on philosophical practices. She is currently working on two book projects: a monograph on Frantz Fanon's « critical dramaturgy » and a co-edited volume – with Jamila Mascat – on slavery in modern European philosophy (Edinburgh University Press). Mercier also specialises in critical theory, the philosophy of translation and she has an extensive record of publications on Michel Serres and French epistemology. She has been a member of the Radical Philosophy editorial collective since 2017.

In 2024-2025 she co-convenes the public seminar "Repenser l'histoire de la philosophie: femmes philosophes" with Prof. Laurent Cesalli.
