Biography

Ben is a humanitarian health research consultant having worked with the Centre since 2020.

He has led and contributed to the development of three MOOCs around the topics of health, humanitarianism and research. This included a course titled Operational Research for Humanitarians, which has more than 11,000 learners to date. Additionally, he supported implementation research projects in Ethiopia and Afghanistan as well as the CHH-Lancet Commission on Health, Conflict and Forced Displacement. Ben has previously been the Course Director for our Executive Short Course in Non-Communicable Diseases in Humanitarian Settings.

Prior to joining the Centre in January 2021, Ben worked in start-ups, multinationals and research institutions. His research interests include health systems, chronic diseases in humanitarian settings, evaluations of complex interventions and health-related behavioural change. He holds an MSc in Global Health from the University of Copenhagen with a specialisation in disaster risk management.
