Inauguration of the Synapsy Center Lausanne for Mental Health Research
The Synapsy Center Lausanne for Mental Health Research (UNIL–CHUV) was officially inaugurated on 11 November 2025 at Cery Hospital in Prilly, bringing together close to 150 participants from the clinical, academic, and research communities. The new Center builds on the legacy of the Swiss National Centre of Competence in Research (NCCR) Synapsy, aiming to further strengthen collaborations between neuroscience and psychiatry in Lausanne and joins the UNIGE and EPFL Synapsy Centres.
The event opened with welcoming remarks and a presentation on the history of Synapsy by Prof. Philippe Conus. The scientific programme featured two distinguished external keynote speakers. Prof. Philipp Sterzer (University of Basel) delivered the opening keynote, and Prof. Pierre Magistretti, co-founder of NCCR Synapsy, concluded the Symposium with a keynote lecture retracing his scientific vision.
Throughout the afternoon, researchers from UNIL, UNIGE, and EPFL presented their work during a series of “Synapsy Talks”, showcasing cutting-edge advances across clinical psychiatry, developmental neuroscience, and fundamental neurobiology. The Symposium closed with an apéritif, marking an important step in consolidating Lausanne’s role as a leading hub for mental health research within the Synapsy Network and in Switzerland.
