Synapsy Academy
Synapsy Academy is an initiative of the Synapsy Centre designed to develop the format of Synapsy Progress Reports in order to strengthen the active involvement of doctoral students, postdoctoral researchers, and MERs and to better reflect the emerging thematic interests of the laboratories. It is supported by an organizing committee (5 to 7 advanced doctoral students/postdoctoral researchers), proposed by the PIs, with a chair and vice-chair, which meets two to four times a year to define the scientific programs.
The committee has been selected, composed of the following members:
- Chair: Benjamin Vidal (Zerbi lab)
- Vice Chair: Joeri Bordes (Bellone lab)
- Board members: Lorina Sinanaj (Bègue lab) & Silas Forrer (Eliez lab)
Synapsy Academy sessions are organized around strong, unifying themes, with a particular focus on their translational relevance and scientific coherence (bridging preclinical ↔ clinical research, comparability of approaches between animal and human models, linking mechanisms–phenotypes–applications). For each session, PIs (or speakers proposed by PIs, particularly doctoral students or advanced postdoctoral researchers) are invited, and contributions are coordinated to ensure a structured cross-disciplinary discussion, with a detailed program and a clear and attractive title for the community.
The meetings are intended to be held at Campus Biotech (Geneva) and to offer, throughout the year, thematic events announced in advance to the entire Synapsy community in order to encourage participation and visibility of scientific exchanges. Finally, to encourage the emergence of collaborations between Synapsy groups.
