Léo-Paul Lechevalier

Léo-Paul Lechevalier is a PhD candidate at the Department of History, Economy and Society (DEHES) under the supervision of Prof. Juan Flores (University of Geneva) and Prof. Eric Monnet (Paris School of Economics).

After having realized a joint degree in economics between the University of Paris 1 Panthéon Sorbonne and the University Complutense of Madrid, he graduated from the Paris School of Economics with a master in Analysis and Policy in Economics.

His PhD thesis takes place inside of the FNS project “Central Banks as Agents of Development”. His research seeks to reconsider the role attributed to Central Banks in Latin America throughout the 20th century. He does so by analyzing their ability to navigate economic crises and face political change while fostering the financial and economic development of the region. His aim is to place this analysis within a long-term perspective to better understand the historical functioning of these central banks and draw conclusions for their future evolution.
