First Masterclass in surgery after Female Genital Mutilation/Cutting
A hybrid event with live dissection and live debates

General info

Hybrid event (available onsite at the SFITS in Geneva, and online)

Target audience: Specialists from different disciplines (gynecology, urology, plastic surgery) as well as doctors, sexologists, physiotherapists and others who are interested in reconstructive surgery after FGM/C

Language: English

Background

Reconstruction after FGM/C is a relatively young and underinvestigated field.

World’s experts will share knowledge and experience to improve the care for women and girls with FGM/C and promote networking for future collaborations and research.

Purpose of the event

The aim is to provide an in-depth anatomical understanding of the vulva through oral presentations and cadaver dissection. Different reconstructive approaches will be presented, sharing experiences in low and high prevalence FGM/C settings, together with multidisciplinary care, management of complications and outcome evaluation.

There will be opportunities for constructive exchange and networking among participants.
