Prof. Armelle CHOPLIN, professeure ordinaire Armelle CHOPLIN est professeure ordinaire au Département de géographie et environnement et au Global Studies Institute depuis 2019. Elle est en congé scientifique du 1er août 2025 au 31 Juillet 2026 (Visiting Professor, University of Bologna) Armelle Choplin is Full Professor at the Department of Geography and Environment (Geneva School of Social Sciences) and at the Global Studies Institute since 2019. She is on scientific leave from 1.08.2025 to 31.07.2026 (Visiting Professor, University of Bologna)

Recherche Ses recherches portent sur les politiques urbaines, transformations sociales et enjeux de développement dans les pays du Sud, en particulier en Afrique. Ses récents travaux analysent l’extraction, la production, la circulation des matériaux de construction, en particulier le béton, et leurs impacts économiques, sociaux et environnementaux. Her research focuses on urban planning, everyday life and globalization in African cities and in the Global South. Her recent work explores the political economy of concrete and the social and environmental impacts of the construction boom in Africa. |
