Visualization of cell migration (Dictyostelium discoideum) with the ADAPT plugin (ImageJ)

Expansion is shown in green and retraction in red. This sequence was acquired in Interference Reflection Microscopy or IRM. IRM is an optical microscopy technique that utilizes polarized light to form an image of a cell on a glass surface. This technique can be used to study events at the cell membrane without the use of any fluorescent labels in contrast to TIRF microscopy (reference paper). The same sequence analyzed with Matlab (N. Liaudet, Bioimaging staff) is available HERE. (Image source: @ R. Bodinier, Cosson group, PHYM Dpt, CMU, Bioimaging staff).
