AFM research grant for Prof. Perrine Castets

The group of Prof. Perrine Castets has received a research grant from the AFM-Téléthon foundation (France) for the project entitled: "Deciphering the multiple pathophysiological facets of the chaperone VMA21". The project focuses on X-linked Myopathy with Excessive Autophagy (XMEA), a rare neuromuscular disorder caused by mutations in the gene VMA21  and characterized by impaired autophagy. The study aims to elucidate the cellular pathways and molecular processes underlying skeletal muscle alterations in affected individuals, using innovative in vivo and in vitro models. The insights gained from this research will pave the way for the future development of targeted therapeutic strategies.
