Professor François R. Jornayvaz is the head of the Division of Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism at Geneva University Hospitals (HUG). He is also an Associate Professor at the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Geneva. He holds Swiss board certifications (FMH) in Endocrinology-Diabetology and Internal Medicine.

He studied medicine in Lausanne and went on to specialise in Internal Medicine and later in Endocrinology-Diabetology, training in Lausanne, Geneva, and Paris. He subsequently completed a three-year research fellowship at Yale University in the United States. He is a member of the Swiss Society of Endocrinology and Diabetology and currently serves on the board of the Romande Foundation for Research on Diabetes.

His research focuses particularly on the relationship between non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) and insulin resistance. To explore this, he conducts translational research ranging from cell culture to clinical studies, with a strong patient-centered approach.
