Luis Castillo Cantero
Rewriting cancer's narrative with next-generation CAR T cells
After completing his degree in Biotechnology at the University of Sevilla, Luis developed a strong interest in advanced therapies. After pursuing a master’s degree at the University of Grenoble to specialize in this field, in 2022, he joined the laboratory of Prof. Denis Migliorini at the University of Geneva. There, he is focused on developing the next generation of CAR T cells to treat brain and pediatric tumors. His research centers on identifying novel, safer targets and designing strategies to overcome the immunosuppressive effects of the tumor microenvironment on CAR T cell function. Outside the lab, Luis enjoys CrossFit, spending time in nature, and gathering with friends.
