The boost that matters: protecting those at risk

Paula is originally from Spain, where she earned her bachelor's degree in biotechnology. She later pursued a master’s degree in immunology in Copenhagen, where she worked on tuberculosis vaccine development. Driven by a passion for infectious diseases and vaccinology, Paula is now undertaking her doctoral studies in the laboratory of Professor Arnaud Didierlaurent. Her research focuses on how immunosuppressive treatments, like JAK inhibitors used for rheumatoid arthritis, affect vaccine responses—particularly to the mRNA COVID-19 and Shingrix (zoster) vaccines. Outside the lab, Paula enjoys travelling and exploring the outdoors, taking full advantage of the natural beauty Switzerland has to offer.
