Training in Research Data Management

Overview of Existing Training Opportunities

It is important that all Faculty members (staff, researchers, and students) strengthen their awareness and knowledge of research data management. To support this, numerous resources are available:

  • The institutional website ResearchData @UNIGE provides an overview of the training opportunities available to support the university community in various aspects of research data management.
  • The Rendez-vous de l’info scientifique offered by the UNIGE Library help the community better understand the challenges related to the preservation and dissemination of research data through short sessions (often 15 minutes).
  • The Swiss Institute of Bioinformatics (SIB) offers e-learnings @SIB and training courses @SIB on various topics related to the management and analysis of biomedical data.

Development of New Training Programs

In addition, the Faculty aims to strengthen the training offer specifically designed for Faculty members as well as for students.

A Teaching Guide for Data Management @FacMed, intended for curriculum coordinators at the Faculty of Medicine, has been developed by the Training Working Group. This guide highlights tools and approaches to help prepare students for a future professional practice that is responsible, ethical, and compliant with current regulations.

Finally, the Training Working Group proposes a set of short-, medium-, and long-term actions @FacMed to develop skills in data management, data protection, and data promotion for all audiences within the Faculty. This action plan reflects the Faculty’s vision and its commitment to ensuring good research data management.
