Astu started her doctorate at the Renewable Energy System Group of the University of Geneva in April 2019. Her research focuses on environmental life-cycle assessment and life-cycle costing of the heat mix options for district heating in the canton of Geneva, to ensure a sustainable integration of geothermal energy into the energy mix. She also studies the impact of these options on the creation of employment. During her doctorate she will be working in the framework of the “Géothermie 2020” program, alongside representatives from the Service Industriel de Genève and Republique et canton de Genève.
Astu graduated from a Master program in Project Management for Environment and Energy Engineering in 2017 from Ecole de Mines de Nantes, France. Before joining Renewable Energy System group, she was working in ES Géothermie (ESG), a geothermal company based in Strasbourg. She was specialized in LCA studies as a part of the operations team. During her time in ESG, she published an article in the Geothermics journal and developed a simplified model for CO2 emission calculation for deep geothermal plants in the Upper Rhein Graben area.
