The Department of Translation Technology
Terminology and translation technology are now recognised as two core components of the translation profession. The objectives of the Department are to follow the developments in these fields and to incorporate state-of-the-art and emerging technologies into the teaching and research activities of the school.
A variety of courses in translation technology are offered in the curricula for the BA in Multilingual Communication and the MA in translation in order to service market needs. The BA courses provide a solid basis in the computer literacy that is required at the various stages in the translation process – from core computing skills to specialised technology for translation. At the MA level the department offers two specialisations, one in terminology and a second in translation technology. Students can also pursue a Ph.D. in terminology or translation technology and for professional translators, a range of continuing education courses are given on a regular basis.
