The Department of Translation Technology (TIM)
Translation technology, terminology and localisation are now recognised as core components of the translation profession. The objectives of the Department of Translation Technology (referred to by its French acronym TIM) are to follow the developments in these fields and to incorporate state-of-the-art and emerging technologies into the teaching and research activities of the Faculty.
A variety of courses in translation technology are offered in the curricula for the BA in Multilingual Communication and the MA in translation in order to service market needs. The BA courses provide a solid basis in the computer literacy that is required at the various stages in the translation process. The MA courses offer an in-depth training in the three areas of specialization. Students can also pursue a Ph.D. and the professional translators can choose among a range of continuing education courses, which are given on a regular basis.
