Programs and doctoral schools

PhD program in Social Psychology

The Universities of Geneva (UNIGE) and Lausanne (UNIL) offer advanced training to supervise the completion of a PhD in the field of social psychology. The Doctoral School allows the two universities to offer a joint PhD.

The training lasts six semesters and is essentially aimed at stimulating thesis work while encouraging an openness to various theoretical currents. In addition to integration into a research team, it includes a strong methodological component and a more thematic component in different areas of social psychology.

The study program is composed of modular courses, interlaboratory meetings, internal seminars and thesis work. The modular courses consist of thematic and methodological modules taught in French or English mainly by visiting professors, and interlaboratory meetings in a conference format where doctoral students and established researchers present their research. Internal seminars are a place where doctoral students discuss their current work with local teachers.
