Podcasts: The academic journey of a doctoral research

This is a four-part podcast series on the academic journey of doctoral research. It is a casual conversation between doctoral and early carrier researchers where they talk about broad themes of a PhD research from pre-inception to post-completion. The host for this podcast series is Krittika Uniyal, she is a doctoral researcher at the University of Geneva’s Institute of environmental governance and territorial development.

Episode 1: What’s the puzzle? From vague ideas to research question

For this first discussion, we have three doctoral candidates with us: Alice Guilbert, Ping Zeller and Nicolas Leresche. We talk about our experience in the first year of starting their PhD research. We will discuss some of our initial impressions, and our challenges from feeling lost in the literature to finally finding a direction.

We began our discussion by talking about our methods and data and then to the process of organizing, writing, and publishing a PhD manuscript.
