Programme structure (duration, format, workload, flexibility)

Duration

  • The Master of Advanced Studies (MAS) normally takes 14 months to complete, though students may extend their studies over two to three years (up to 38 months).
  • The Diploma of Advanced Studies (DAS) is delivered as an intensive residential course in Geneva over three months (September–December).
  • The Certificates of Advanced Studies (CAS) run for approximately five months, fully online and part-time.
  • The Executive Short Courses (ESC) are fully online, with a duration of two weeks.

Format

  • Online learning combines synchronous live sessions (two to three afternoons per week, 2.5 hours each, Central European Time) with asynchronous self-study activities (such as case studies, videos, readings and group assignments).
  • Residential learning (DAS) takes place in Geneva, four days per week, and combines lectures, seminars and group work.

Workload

  • MAS: c. 1,500 hours (60 ECTS)
  • DAS: c. 750 hours (30 ECTS)
  • CAS: c. 250 hours (10 ECTS)
  • ESC: c. 50 hours (2 ECTS)

On average, participants should expect to dedicate 20–25 hours per week to their studies.

Flexibility

  • The MAS can be completed in one continuous period or divided over two to three years.
  • CAS and ESC are designed to be compatible with a part-time professional activity (up to 50%).
  • Online delivery enables participation from any location, though it requires consistent time management and reliable internet access.
