FABER cohort: male reproductive health in Switzerland

Progression of the study

The inclusion of volunteers was submitted to the functioning of recruitment centres, the number of volunteers announced, the availability of analytical laboratories and medical doctors.
As far as possible, 5-8 volunteers were included per laboratory per week by the responsible physician, who notified the recruitment centres, biologists and doctors involved. He is the warrant of anonymity, being the only one who knows the identity of the volunteers. Upon inclusion, the volunteer received a study number that he kept until he visited the laboratory.

Up to two centres operated simultaneously, including 20-30 volunteers per month.

Inclusion was consistent during the first 6 years. In 2011, the inclusion of cases was interrupted due to a lack of financial resources for a period of three years.

In 2015, the last two Centres in Sumiswald and Mels were opened. The collection was completed in December 2018.
