Information and application
- Next information session for IHDS students: 23.10.2025, 12:15.
- Please follow application procedure given by Academic Exchange Office.
- Online applications open on Monday October 13, 2025
- Printed applications must be handed in to the Academic Exchange Office by 12.30pm on November 27, at the latest
After your application
- The Academic Exchange Office will inform you of your assigned destination: in January for destinations outside Europe, in March for European destinations.
- The Academic Exchange Office or the host university will contact you to inform you of the registration procedures with your host university.
- Your host university will ask your mobility study plan : complete this document and send it to the Mobility Academic Advisor: mobilite-etu-sds@unige.ch. The study contract must be validated by the Academic advisor no later than the first day of your exchange semester.
- For European destinations: complete your Learning Agreement and send it to the Mobility Academic Advisor: mobilite-etu-sds@unige.ch. The Learning Agreement has to be validated in addition to the study contract.
Changes in the study contract and Learning Agreement are accepted until the 2nd week of your exchange semester.
Credits validation
- In order to obtain the 30 ECTS credits required by IHDS study plan, you must pass the exams/courses listed in your study contract. Credits must be obtained according to the criteria of the host university. No resit session is possible at UNIGE.
- To get the credits transferred to your UNIGE transcript: send your transcript to the Mobility Academic Advisor mobilite-etu-sds@unige.ch (see below)
- Once the credits acquired during exchange program are transferred to the student's curriculum, you receive a confirmation mail from the Dean.
How to send my transcript?
- If your host University has sent the electronic or paper document directly to UNIGE (Academic Exchange Office or Geneva School of Social Sciences): you have nothing to do.
- If you have received your transcript by email : please TRANSFER the original email to mobilite-etu-sds@unige.ch , with the attached document.
- If you have received an original paper document: please contact mobilite-etu-sds@unige.ch or send it by post to :

Deadline to send your transcript:
- March 8 for exchange semester in Fall
- August 8 for exchange semester in Spring
- October 8 for resit session at your host University
