Neda Shafiei joins as Postdoctoral Researcher focusing on online narratives and inclusive urban heritage management

Neda Shafiei, has joined Peter Bille Larsen and Geneva Heritage Lab as a postdoctoral researcher focusing on how online narratives on social media can inform more inclusive urban heritage management, with a case study on Yazd, a UNESCO World Heritage site in Iran.

Building on her PhD research in Tehran, she has examined how digital platforms shape public engagement with urban heritage. Using digital ethnography and qualitative content analysis, she explores how diverse stakeholders interact with heritage sites online to develop frameworks that support social inclusion, sustainability, and human rights.

This work aligns with the University of Geneva’s commitment to advancing heritage studies and sustainable development.
