Frauke Müller studied dental medicine at the University of Bonn, where she obtained her doctorate in 1987. She then specialised in prosthetic dentistry and was appointed privat-docent at the University of Mainz in 1996. In 2003, she joined the UNIGE Faculty of Medicine as an associate professor before being promoted to full professor in 2011.
Throughout her career, Frauke Müller has made a significant contribution to the development of dental medicine in Geneva. She served as Director of the Department of Orofacial Rehabilitation at the University Clinic of Dental Medicine (CUMD) from 2017 to 2021, and as President of the CUMD from 2018 to 2022. She also co-edited the book “Oral Healthcare and the Frail Elder”, a key reference in the field.
Highly active at both national and international levels, she has chaired several scientific societies and is an honorary member of numerous professional associations in Europe and worldwide. She has twice received the Distinguished Scientist Award from the International Association for Dental Research—first in 2013 in the field of Geriatric Oral Research, and again in 2023 in the field of Prosthodontics and Implantology. A member of the Swiss Academy of Medical Sciences, she also holds an honorary doctorate from the University of Thessaloniki and is an Honorary Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh. She is appointed Emeritus Professor in October 2025.
