Valentina Garibotto studied medicine in Genoa, Italy, and specialised in nuclear medicine in Milan, where she obtained a PhD on the assessment of cerebral glucose metabolism and compensatory mechanisms in Alzheimer's disease. Head of the Division of Nuclear Medicine and Molecular Imaging since 2021, she coordinates several national and international clinical and translational projects to develop and validate new diagnostic and therapeutic radiopharmaceuticals in all areas of the discipline, particularly in oncology, cardiology and neuroimaging. In 2014, she was appointed associate professor in the Department of Radiology and Medical Informatics at the UNIGE Faculty of Medicine - a department she has headed since 2023 - and was promoted to full professor in October 2025.
